Why Wisconsin and AD-89 Are Important

Fairer district maps went into effect in 2024 after years of extreme Republican gerrymandering that locked in GOP control of WI’s state legislature despite statewide Democratic wins. Just how unfair were the maps? Republicans split Democrat communities among so many districts that, while Dems won 15 of the past 18 statewide elections, Republicans controlled both state legislative chambers.

2026 is the first year all 99 assembly seats and 17 of the 33 senate seats (12 of the 17 are held by Republicans) will be decided under the new fairer maps!  

Ryan Spaude flipped this purple, Green Bay–area district in 2024, winning by only 826 votes. Ryan is focused on addressing the cost-of-living crisis experienced by so many of his constituents. Defending AD89 is essential to protecting recent Democrat gains and building momentum toward a governing majority in Madison.
